Thread: Ender 3 First Layer Issues

Ibrahim Grover: My corners are lifting on the left side. I've leveled three times already. Glass bed with hairspray.
Chameli Sachdev: Check your Z-offset again. Also, make sure the bed is actually flat — use a straight edge. Warped beds are common on stock Ender 3s.

Ibrahim Grover: I'll try the straight edge test. What about using a BLTouch instead of manual leveling?
Naresh Dev Sharaf: BLTouch helps but you still need a decent starting point. Also try increasing bed temp to 65°C for the first layer, then drop it.

Munni Dar: I had the same issue — turned out my Y-axis eccentric nut was loose. Tighten those rollers and re-level.

These clarifications keep the forum practical. They define what counts as a build log, how tool reviews are treated, and what happens when a thread drifts off-topic. Read them before posting so the community stays useful for everyone.

Forum ground rules & definitions

Build logsA build log must include the machine model, material used, and at least one photo or a clear description of the result. Posts without these details may be moved to the "Questions" board.

Tool reviewsReviews should focus on your own experience with calibration, maintenance, and real output quality. We do not accept sponsored posts or affiliate-driven recommendations. If you received the tool for free, say so at the top.

Marketplace threadsUsed equipment listings must state the exact model, age, and asking price in the first post. No auction-style bidding. Meetups are arranged in person; the forum only helps coordinate time and place.

Expert Q&A sessionsModerated sessions run every other Saturday. Questions are collected in advance, and answers are posted as a summary thread. Off-topic comments during a live session will be removed.

Local meetupsMeetup organizers must confirm the venue and date before posting. If an event is cancelled, the thread is locked and a notice is added. We do not handle payments or registrations.

Content boundariesDiscussions about filament, wood, acrylic, and metal are welcome. We do not cover topics related to trading, betting, or any form of financial speculation. Keep the focus on making and fixing.

My Ender-3 kept failing on the first layer for weeks. A member's calibration checklist sorted it out in one evening. The community is genuinely patient with beginners.

Found a used 60W CO2 laser in the marketplace thread at half the retail price. The seller had a detailed build log, so I knew exactly what I was buying.

Asked about bit speeds for cutting 12mm plywood and got three different approaches within an hour. Tested all of them — the one from the local meetup group worked best.

The Q&A session on stepper driver tuning saved me from replacing a perfectly good controller. Turns out it was just a current limit issue. Great troubleshooting threads here.

Organized a weekend meetup through the forum and five strangers became regular collaborators. We now share tooling costs and run joint projects every month.
